Precision for Missions in Space
For more than 60 years, Freyer has been manufacturing components for the space industry – with expertise built on generations of skilled workers and a modern, high-precision machine park. In an industry that combines high complexity with extreme accuracy, this family-owned company delivers components for demanding missions: from parts for MGSE to engineering models and flight models, often in small quantities and with a high degree of machining. Parts from Tuningen have already been part of missions such as Galileo, ExoMars, JUICE, Euclid, the James Webb Space Telescope, and experiments for the ISS.
Complex Components for Extreme Requirements
The range of services covers components for mechanisms, electronics housings, structural parts, experiment components, MGSE components, and complete assemblies. Particularly in demand are turned and milled parts made from lightweight metals such as aluminum, sometimes combined with assembly, sheet metal processing, and surface treatment. Typical examples include flight recorders, thermal shields, and bipods – components with extremely tight tolerances, complex geometries, and often produced as one-offs or in very low quantities.
Quality assurance is carried out in accordance with ISO 9001 using a 3D coordinate measuring machine, detailed measurement reports, and first article inspection reports. Particular emphasis is placed on the packaging, cleaning, and safe shipping of high-value parts – standards that have earned the trust of international space programs.
Flexibility and Consulting Expertise
As a small family-owned company with flat hierarchies, Freyer responds quickly and flexibly to customer requirements. The service extends beyond pure manufacturing: feasibility assessments and consulting on the economic optimization of parts are just as much part of the offering as personal support and reliable on-time delivery.
The industry continues to evolve – parts are becoming increasingly complex and larger, and new markets such as New Space are growing. Freyer meets these challenges with a continuously updated machine park and the expertise that only decades of experience can provide. The results speak for themselves: excellent audit outcomes and long-standing partnerships with leading space organizations.
